Our organization has been working with children and youth for many years. We began organizing our first summer camps in Mosty u Jablunkova – Šance back in the 1990s, and until 2015 we prepared events under the banner of the civic association Strom Beskyd. In 2014, however, we unfortunately lost almost all of our property as a result of a devastating fire whose cause still remains unclear.
Even this event did not discourage us from our mission to work with children, and in 2015 we founded a new organization, Beskydy dětem, z.s. All our activities are based on the principle of voluntariness, which makes our events accessible to the general public. We want to offer children not only from Třinec and the surrounding areas the opportunity to spend their free time doing sports activities and to build in them a positive attitude toward nature and the environment. We show children that a real world exists — not just the virtual computer one, which, unfortunately, has become an inseparable companion for today’s kids. The Beskydy Mountains, with their diversity and beautiful nature, offer an ideal environment for these goals.
Throughout the year, we organize several events and trips. However, our greatest passion is children’s summer camps. Due to the lack of our own financial and material resources, we currently rent the camp equipment. Over time, we would like to rebuild our own facilities again so we can organize and offer even more activities for children and youth.
Let us introduce the current members of our camp team. These are the people with their hearts in the right place!
Dan
A seasoned jack-of-all-trades technician in the field of All-kinds-of-work – that’s our Danny! In his immortal sandals he fearlessly tackles repairs of fallen teepees, eliminates small and big camp floods, and heats water for warm showers for all participants like a dragon! 👍
Honza
A sharpshooter-archer, occasional guitarist, full-time woodsman – that’s how we’d describe our Honza in a few words. A member of the Odyssea Tišnov archery club and also our court photographer and cameraman – he’ll catch you either with an arrow or with his camera! 🎯
Kája
Kája – an untamed ball of energy and laughter who can get all campers nicely in line. Since she was basically raised on camps of all kinds, it’s no surprise she still spends her summers the same way as she did when she was young. She’s up for anything – sleeping under the stars with the kids or swimming in cold water is her daily bread. 🤩
Cooks Helča and Kačka!
Helča – you know that feeling when after a whole day of cooking you still need to clean up the kitchen? We don’t anymore! No dirty pot lasts long in her presence! Our newcomer Helenka certainly doesn’t shy away from work – she cooks and cleans and cooks and cleans until steam rises from her hands, and if she could, she’d cook even for the guests at the Javorový lodge! 👌
Kača – A seasoned kitchen veteran and a blissful woman, simply our Ketrynka – a girl for any tough moment. Her presence at camp guarantees at least these two things – happy tummies and smiles on faces! Outside of camp she also works with animal therapy, and even at camp her dogs and guinea pigs bring children joy and comfort when they start to feel homesick. 😘
Ivka
A long-time member of Beskydy dětem, she is our camp mom. The kids love her and she loves them. She has already gone through many roles at camp – from group leader to cook, and she even handled the highest function – head leader! Ivanka is cheerful and kind, loves singing, and takes care of all the kids as if they were her own (maybe even better 😆). 🥰
Kuba
What needs to be done – he does. What needs to be arranged – he arranges. Kuba is attending our camp for the fourth time, and kids love him because few people can motivate campers like he does. His hobbies include winning dodgeball tournaments and whole-camp competitions – for several years in a row! 🤠
Klárka
A huntress whose main prey is victory in the whole-camp game, which she is fighting hard to capture again this year. Klárka – an incredible young lady who manages her group, helps prepare meals for campers, and still finds time to stoke the fire under the cauldron. She’ll dazzle you with many things, especially her wild dance moves at camp discos! 💃
Kouba
The youngest member of our camp crew, who has been attending our camps since 2018 – but only for the second year as part of the leader team = Kouba. The head organizer of ball games and a dodgeball champion has moved from the technical support position to group leader – who knows what role he’ll take on next… 😎
Ríša
A newly minted member of Beskydy dětem and attending our camp for the very first time this year – but you’d never guess! Ríša – an archer and instructor from Odyssea Tišnov, and also a proper woodsman – took the role of technical support. We owe him warm water at the camp and repairs of all kinds. 🦸♂️
Terezka
She has attended Beskydy dětem camps since she was little – first as an ordinary camper, then as an assistant, and now for several years as a full-fledged group leader. That’s why nothing surprises her at camp anymore. Terezka is an artist of all kinds, and thanks to her we have lots of creative ideas that she expertly passes on to children. And a big plus – she’ll always sing beautifully by the campfire! 🎼
Kristýnka
Kristýnka is the newest addition to our camp, and even a complete newcomer to camps in general. A trained teacher who did not shy away from the challenge – and although the only camp she ever attended as a child was a camp for models and make-up artists, you wouldn’t be able to tell at all. Her artistic alter ego Billie V. emerges in moments when we expect it least but need it most – for example in the talent show! 😋
Ondra
A camp veteran, founder of our organization, and its brain and heart. Ondra is our camp dad through and through. He takes care of everything, arranges everything, and his role has long been the MAIN CAMP LEADER. He never ruins any fun and both the kids and we love him very much! 🥰
Romča
His first time with us at camp and right away in an important role – quartermaster and supplies manager! Buy, pick up, deliver, buy, bring… Oh and please grab this too… Anyone who hasn’t tried it has no idea what it’s like to secure and provide resources for the entire camp. Romča loves driving, so he’ll get plenty of that here 😀 He’s also our webmaster 🖥️
Míša
As a child she took part in camps like many of us, and this year she’s going with us for the first time as a kitchen helper – but we’ll definitely involve her in preparing and participating in games for the kids. She is a cheerful and smiling mom of two, and she brought one of her kids with her this year to keep an eye on her – daughter watching her mom 😂.
Peťka
Another member who went through camps since childhood! An untamed spark who can lift everyone up with her optimism and good mood – she’s simply fun to be around! Peťka works at the museum in Třinec and this year she will join our camp kitchen, where she’ll make sure our tummies are full and the good mood doesn’t leave the kitchen! 🍲
Vojta
A medic who takes care of the small and bigger aches and pains of children at camp. He enjoys woodworking, and his craftsmanship is always useful at camp! Most importantly though, he’s a buddy who never says NO and always helps with anything needed. And even when he does say no, he ends up doing it anyway 😀 Simply a guy with his heart in the right place 💓 ️
Lucka
A camp leader who has been part of our team and its essential member for many years! She is always prepared and handles both the program preparation for children and the care of her group. She never spoils the fun and we can always rely on her. She has also tried the role of camp cook and has been coming since childhood together with her son, who is growing into a little big camper! 👏
